What a week for Microsoft: 40 million Windows 8, 750k Xbox 360, 25 million Outlook.com users

imageMicrosoft has sold 40 million Windows 8 licenses since its launch a month back. Four million machines were running the latest OS from the software giant within four days of its launch.

The company also managed to sell 750k Xbox 360 consoles in US between November 18 and 23 (the black Friday week). Interestingly, it was the launch week of Nintendo’s Wii U console.

That’s not all, 25 million users have signed up for Outlook.com within four months of its launch. The Email service which saw 10 million users signing up in the first two weeks of launch, is expanding its user base at a decent pace.

imageMicrosoft today announced in its press release that its much anticipated Surface tablet will be available for pre-order starting 9 AM PDT at the Surface site. The Windows RT based version starts from US $499 and comes with a 32GB storage. Those who want the bundle with black touch cover will have to shell out US $599 and the 64 GB version with black touch cover costs US $699.

Customers can buy additional accessories, which includes black, white, magenta, cyan and red Touch covers priced at US $119.99 and Type cover with hardware keys at US $129.99.
